January 4, 2013

If you were fortunate enough to get your hands on a Wii U this Christmas, you’ll probably still have plenty of gameplay left in whatever title it is you got with the console. However, there are a host of action games coming in 2012 that you might want to know about!

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge – January 2013

There has been loads of speculation about the Ninja Gaiden series and whether or not it might come to the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL. However, Wii U owners need only wait a little while longer to see the latest entry in the franchise arrive on their shiny new home console. Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge makes full use of the Wii U GamePad and there are some great options for solo and multiple play, including co-operative two-player online mode.

Rayman Legends – February 2013

If you’re a fan of Super Mario games and are looking for a little more platform adventure then you should probably check out Rayman Legends. The series has popped up on everything from Nintendo GameCube to Nintend0 3DS and Wii, but on Wii U it uses the innovative GamePad to introduce all new ways to play. Guide Rayman through loads of levels using traditional control methods or use the touch screen and motion control options of the GamePad to add up to five players. You can even use the GamePad for solo play when the TV is being used.

Pikmin 3 – Spring 2013

If you like your adventure games to have a bit more of a strategy angle, Pikmin 3 could be right up your street. Get lost in a world of tiny Pikmin warriors who you can use to explore and develop a rich and diverse universe – using your Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk or Wii U GamePad to take out your enemies. The GamePad also allows you to choose an overhead view of the action to keep track of your teams more easily.

Of course, 2013 will also see the arrival of shooting games like Aliens: Colonial Marines and super hero action in The Wonderful 101. All in all, it could be just the start of a great year for those who love Wii U games.
